William "Bill" Harris has been working as a
hands-on (actual labor) carpenter in residential
construction since the age of 16. He's had the
opportunity to work under some of the most
influential & experienced carpenters & contractors
on the East Coast building many custom built
homes, condos & mini malls through out many
years there. His experience & knowledge along
with his work ethics made him
A great "Lead Carpenter" & one of the Most Wanted
Carpenters by any contractor that had the privilege
or wanted the privilege of working with Bill.
During these years, Bill was introduced to Log
Homes with his first being a 5,000 square foot
home. He instantly had a desire to know more & to
build more of these unique structures.
After building several more Log Homes, learning the
different techniques, applications and requirements
of working with logs, Bill knew it was time to
become independent & offer homeowners his years
of hands-on knowledge, experience,
confidence & work ethics.
Bill began traveling, working for several different
log home companies, on their preferred builders list,
building log homes for many satisfied homeowners
from the Mid-West to the East Coast. Several of
these homes have been featured by the dealerships
& developers he has built for as Models, as Catalog
Pictures, in Log Home Living Magazine and Various
Log Home Calendars.
In 1994, Bill built a home for the President of one of
these companies located in the Appalachian & Blue
Ridge Mountains of North Carolina where these
unique homes are more in demand.
It was at this time that Bill decided to relocate his
family and offer his services in these mountains,
attributing to the formation of Pioneer Builders and
possibly have the opportunity to be with his family
for more than just a weekend or two.
